Lorraine Kelly breaks silence after show suddenly pulled off air

Lorraine responded to a viewer's complaint that her show was axed midway through, saying it wasn't her fault.

Earlier today, viewers watched on as Lorraine was abruptly pulled from the ITV schedule to make way for a breaking news report from Downing Street. During an interview with former JLS member Aston Merrygold, Lorraine Kelly handed the show over to ITV news who then took the reins for the next 30 minutes.

The news report was to inform the public of a Prime Minster address where he is expected to announce his resignation at lunchtime. At 10am, This Morning with Holly and Phil followed its usual schedule but Lorraine never returned to air following the report.

Taking to Twitter, the presenter finally broke her silence on the topic, stating it wasn't her decision. Tweeting to her, one viewer said: "Shocking that half your show was cancelled, Lorraine."

In a response, Lorraine said: "Not my decision Amy. Back tomorrow as usual at 9 am - hope to see you then."

Throughout Lorraine's show, she had a back and forth with a "psychic pig" that was expected to relay information on when the Prime Minister would resign. Ironically, the pig was correct as he 'said' today would be the day. She praised the pig for his apparent psychic abilities and asked viewers never to question his intelligence again.

She said: "You may scoff but just want to point out that right after psychic pig appeared on my show Boris finally resigned. Pigs are extremely canny and intelligent, No one can overcome the power of a psychic pig."

Given the time the Prime Minister is set to address the nation, viewers can also expect Loose Women to be shelved to allow an ITV news broadcast to air from 12.30 pm.
