TV presenter Lorraine Kelly appealed for help from her fans on Thursday morning just over an hour before she was due on air. Kelly, known for her eponymous breakfast programme on ITV, said she had lost her voice and needed a quick fix - with just an hour and a half to go before she appeared on screens at 9am.
She wrote on Twitter: "HELP! I’ve lost my voice - any cures that have worked for you" and added jokingly: "(and yes - well aware some might say me not able to talk can only be a blessing)." Fans rushed to recommend the host their foolproof remedies. One wrote: "Lozenges, steam inhalation, salt water gargling and clearing nasal passages with a nasal douche. Good luck!" Another said: "Hot drinks and stay warm!!! Chicken soup at lunchtime".
A third wrote: "If you dissolve old style liquorice sweets in boiling water and drink like tea, they’re great - old singer’s trick x Good luck honey." Lorraine appeared to have settled on the recommendation by one user that she "mix a Lemsip with a nip of Highland Park and a spoon of honey local to where you are staying - top with hot water and you’re away". In response, she wrote it was the "best one so far".
