Lorena weakened to a remnant low Friday but forecasters emphasized a life-threatening risk of flash flooding and mudslides was still present for parts of Mexico’s Baja California peninsula and the states of Sonora and Sinaloa.
Now a post-tropical storm, Lorena had maximum sustained winds of 35 mph (56 kph), the U.S. National Hurricane Center said. The storm was stationary about 170 miles (274 kilometers) west of Cabo San Lazaro, Mexico.
