Lord Sear, the legendary hip-hop DJ known for his work with Eminem, has died aged 52, SiriusXM confirmed Wednesday.
“It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Lord Sear. He was more than a voice on the radio — he was a force, a friend, and family to so many of us,” the caption of a tribute post on Sears’s Instagram page reads. “Lord Sear’s legacy in hip hop runs deep.”
No further details on his cause of death were shared.
SiriusXM will air a tribute to the longtime DJ today and Friday from 12pm to 4pm ET on Shade 45 (Ch. 45) on car radios and the SiriusXM app.
Sear joined SiriusXM radio in the early 2000s, co-hosting The All Out Show with Rude Jude on Eminem’s Shade 45 channel. During the same period, the DJ toured with Eminem on his Anger Management Tour.

He later launched his own program, The Lord Sear Special, also on SiriusXM, which he hosted until his death.
Eminem was among the first to pay tribute to Sear on Wednesday, sharing on X: “Sear was one of the greatest people to be around, I will never forget how he made me laugh on our tour together. Our time on @Shade45 together was always some of my favorite interviews. He made the world a better place and I’m gonna seriously miss that. Rest in peace Lil Trey aka @LordSear!!!”
Other voices from the hip-hop scene to pay tribute included E-40, Hit-Boy, Xzibit, Big Boi, Fat Joe, Mickey Factz, Rapsody and Tony Yayo.
“God bless i know him my whole career love you sear,” Fat Joe commented on Instagram.
Meanwhile, fellow radio disk jockey Peter Rosenberg shared on X: “Rest Easy Lord Sear. The man embodied hip hop in every way. I had been trying to get him on Juan Ep the last couple of years. I am so so sad we never got to have that conversation. Thank you for everything you gave to the culture Sear. You will not be forgotten.”
Lord Sear started his music career as part of the hip-hop group Kurious and went on to lend his voice to the Grand Theft Auto III video game and make a cameo on Big Pun’s 2000 Yeeeah Baby album intro.
Shade 45 announced that Sear will be honored on the tribute shows where “friends will come together during his slot to share memories.”
“Rest easy, Lord Sear. Your family, friends, and all of us on Shade 45 will never forget you,” the statement concluded.
