Ruth Langsford left viewers at home stunned on Monday when she revealed news of a very unexpected guest on Loose Women. And that person was none other than soon to be ex Scottish First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon.
As they always do towards the end of This Morning, Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby crossed over to the Loose Women to get a teaser of what was coming up on the show and they were greeted by Ruth, who announced the surprising news that Nicola would be a guest.
While Loose Women has had some rather bizarre guests over the years, Nicola has got to be one that no-one saw coming. It was announced online on Monday morning that she would be joining Ruth and colleagues Coleen Nolan, Janet Street-Porter and Gloria Hunniford to talk about her recent resignation from her role as First Minister. Her appearance on Loose Women came just a day after her husband, Peter Murrell stepped down from his position as chief executive of the SNP, after more than two decades in post.

Announcing her resignation in February, Nicola said she was quitting for 'personal reasons' saying: "I'm not expecting violins here, but I am a human being as well as a politician. These jobs are a privilege, but they are also rightly hard."
She added that being involved in politics and all the repercussions of it had "taken its toll."
Many ITV viewers couldn't quite get their heads around that, the still in post First Minister of Scotland was a guest on Loose Women, with her appearance becoming a big talking point on Twitter. Clearly not a fan, one viewer posted: "This woman knows no shame. The sheer brass neck of her is mind boggling," with another tweeting: "The snp is an absolute shambles and Nicola Sturgeon goes to London to appear on #LooseWomen, I really hope Janet Street Porter gives her a rough time!!"
