Ruth Langsford was apologetic as she had to bring Tuesday's Loose Women to a rather abrupt end, awkwardly cutting off the show's former presenter Kate Thornton, on her return as a guest.
Popular host Ruth was back at the helm of the ITV lunchtime show on Tuesday and joined by co-stars Brenda Edwards, Coleen Nolan and Janet Street-Porter. The topics on the agenda ranged from 'cheating' grandmas to the latest news stories of the day and the latter stages of the programme saw Kate take her seat on the panel.
THe former Loose Women anchor and X Factor presenter has been going great guns with her radio shows, The Smash Hits Years and Stuck in the 80s, on Greatest Hits Radio, having also edited the iconic magazine of the same name for a number of years.
Kate's appearance on Loose Women was teased towards the end of This Morning, with Ruth revealing that the show was going back to the 80s in her honour, as Kate very nearly suffered an unfortunate stumble whilst dancing on the ITV programme's set.
After walking on for her interview, around an hour later, to the sounds of Wham classic Wake Me Up (Before You Go Go), Kate and the panel immersed themselves in some 80s nostalgia, as they reminisced about the music and the fashions of the decade.
And, just as Kate was waxing lyrical about the hairstyles of the era, and a photo of Ruth back in the 80s flashed up on screen, Loose Women's current host had to step in to bring the conversation to a halt, with her reminding Kate of her days as a host as she told her: "LIsten, we've got to go Kate; you know what it's like, coming to the end of the show."
Ruth did remedy her interruption by giving Kate's show another plug, before thanking her for coming on as gust, as the audience wildly applauded.
