Ruth Langsford had some big news that blindsided regular Loose Women viewers on Monday, when she made an announcement that made it abundantly obvious that the show would run for longer than usual.
Over the last few months the lunchtime programme has been the victim of various scheduling alterations, for events like the Budget and Cheltenham Festival, with it taken off air completely for close to a full week to allow for ITV to focus on the horse racing.
Given that Monday was a Bank Holiday, viewers might well have expected Loose Women to be missing in action, but instead, Ruth gave the game away that it had in fact been extended by 15 minutes, when she announced a series of guests who were due in the studio at 1.30pm, the time the show usually finishes at.
Joining colleagues Denise Welch, Brenda Edwards and Gloria Hunniford on the panel, Ruth made the announcement right at the start of proceedings that Strictly Come Dancing pros Neil Jones, Luba Mushtuk and Vito Coppola would be joining the panel an hour later to talk about this year's show and the Strictly professionals tour, which is heading to arenas across the country.
Ruth then joked that Brenda was "auditioning for Strictly" as the former X Factor shimmied in her seat just along from her, before moving swiftly on to talk about this weekend's Coronation of King Charles III, sparking a divide amongst her co-stars about how they were feeling about the historic event.
Any Loose Women fans who enjoyed getting the extra 15 minutes of action shouldn't get used to a longer show though, as the TV guide for Tuesday confirmed that it would revert back to its usual 60 minute length for the rest of the week.
