Loose Women's Ruth Langsford backed by ITV co-stars over rules she enforced to 'protect' son

Ruth Langsford has opened up on a rule she enforced on her son and his mobile phone when he was growing up, amid a discussion on parenting on Loose Women.

As the ITV lunchtime show remained on TV schedules, despite it being a Bank Holiday, former This Morning host Ruth headed up the panel as she was joined by colleagues Linda Robson, Gloria Hunniford and Brenda Edwards and kicked off a discussion on whether children should be allowed to make their own rules.

Ruth admitted that when son Jack started, what she referred to as 'big school,' she was hit with nerves over him having his own phone and told to her Loose Women colleagues that she met a child protection expert and got some advice from them on what to do. The presenter explained: "He said you set boundaries from the very beginning. First thing is you say to him 'you never lock your phone. If I find your phone locked it will be taken away from you.'
