Ruth Langsford accused Janet Street Porter of putting words in her mouth on Loose Women today in a tense exchange.
The women were discussing whether it was appropriate to stay friends with your ex's family, with Ruth, 63, insisting it wasn't.
Talking about the prospect of your partner's ex rocking up for Sunday lunch, Eamonn Holmes' wife said it was 'disrespectful', adding the ex should "move on".
However, Janet said she was still friends with her ex's family, suggesting she was "more civilised" than the mum-of-one.
Clarifying her position, Ruth said: "You're putting words in my mouth Janet Street Porter. If you have children and there's grandparents, obviously it's different .
"I'm talking about when I was younger with a boyfriend. When I was done with the boyfriend then I moved on. [His family] are not my family."
Ruth's husband Eamonn has been at the centre of a whirlwind of drama involving the couple's former colleague Phillip Schofield.
The Broom Cupboard star quit This Morning before admitting he'd had an 'unwise but not illegal' affair with a younger male runner.
Eamonn slammed Phil in a no holds barred interview on GB News, suggesting the presenter had demeaned Ruth and the rest of the Loose Women.
In his bombshell interview, Eamonn referenced Phil and Ruth's exchange on Loose Women back in 2019 when the father-of-two cut her off as she introducing the line-up.
Speaking about Phil's 'arrogance', Eamonn said: "He was so rude, so dismissive of the Loose Women."
Claiming a 'good presenter' would have been able to deal with shaving off 20 seconds off their given time slot, Eamonn continued: "He was so rude to Ruth, saying: 'Why are we doing this [introducing the Loose Women line-up? What's the point of this?'
"I know the Loose Women felt very demeaned."
Fans also noticed discord between Phil and Ruth during the NTAs in 2020 when This Morning won Best Live Magazine Show at the National Television Awards in 2020.
After Holly began her acceptance speech, Phillip went on to say: “We have an amazing team…you are the best team on the telly, we love you so much, we love getting up in the morning and standing on the shoulders of all the hard work that you’ve done.”
Phil then asked Ruth to say a few words, but a source claimed to the Sun Online the entire exchange was staged.
They told the publication: "Ruth has never been invited by Phil to speak during an NTAs acceptance speech before until now.
"It was clearly all staged by bosses at This Morning, but Ruth clearly bristled when Phil put his arm around her."
