Loose Women's Nadia Sawalha addresses Phillip Schofield's This Morning exit as she explains one 'rule' for work colleagues

Nadia Sawlha has had her say on the ongoing drama at This Morning.

The Loose Women panelist is the latest showbiz name to get involved in the furore after Phillip Schofield's dramatic exit from the ITV show at the weekend.

Phil's former colleague Eamonn Holmes was one of the first to speak out following the news that the 61-year-old was stepping down from the show after 21 years. As we reported yesterday, former This Morning presenter Eamonn hasn't held back when discussing his views on the This Morning drama.

Discussing the situation on his GB News show, Eamonn has claimed that he believes Phillip was "sacked" by bosses and didn't choose to go, and when he was asked by co-host Isabel Webster if he believed she had been disloyal to her former friend, Eamonn claimed that Holly Willoughby had stabbed Phil in the back, as writes MEN.

The former ITV presenter, who hosted This Morning alongside his wife Ruth Langsford until 2021, slammed Holly and quipped: "Yes, she made her name on the back of him."

Loose Women star Nadia Sawlha has now waded into the controversy after only a few celebrities showed him support, with This Morning regulars Clodagh Mckenna, Rochelle Humes, and Matthew Wright all speaking out in his favour.

Ex ITV presenter Piers Morgan added that the star "deserved a better send-off" by the programme he spent more than two decades at. But Nadia Sawalha has explained why hosts of the likes of Loose Women and Good Morning Britain have stayed tight-lipped so far.

Appearing on her Coffee Moaning podcast with husband Mark, she said: “This story with Phillip and Holly is just huge, it’s just everywhere. There’s so much speculation and so much chat.

“I think everybody at ITV, like my colleagues, and whether I’m doing a live Instagram or on [YouTube], there is the constant question of why haven’t we said anything? Why are we not saying anything? It is difficult, because I do have a rule.

But hinting at her true feelings, she added: "There are people who don’t stick to that rule and I believe that a certain person who is in the news at the moment didn’t stick to that so much with me a long while ago. I’m just going to leave that there…

"I don’t know Phillip and Holly. They pass around the studios but I’ve never had a cup of coffee with them, I’ve never sat and had a chat with them.

"But I have a rule - and I think it’s a good one - that I don’t bad-mouth people that are colleagues. I think that’s what makes you a decent person or not."

On Saturday (May 20), Phillip stepped down from his job after more than a week of speculation about an ongoing feud behind the scenes with his former friend Holly.

The presenter said in a statement that the programme had 'become the story' and that he wanted to "do what I can to protect the show that I love" after rumours were rife that he and Holly Willoughby were 'barely speaking' behind the scenes amid a 'rift' between the pair.

He went on to say: "So I have agreed to step down from This Morning with immediate effect, in the hope that the show can move forward to a bright future. I’d like to thank everyone who has supported me – especially This Morning’s amazing viewers – and I’ll see you all for the Soap Awards next month."
