Loose Women's Kelly Holmes issues warning to co-stars within moments of reveal as new panellist

Dame Kelly Holmes issued a warning to her Loose Women colleagues, within moments of being revealed as the show's new panellist.

The news that double Olympic champion Kelly, who won both 800 and 1500m gold at the Athens games in front of millions of viewers back at home, was joining the line-up of the ITV lunchtime discussion show was confirmed on Wednesday morning, with Loose Wome n editor Sally Shelford added: "We are thrilled and honoured to have Dame Kelly Holmes join the Loose Women panel. She is a national treasure and an inspiration to us all. We can’t wait to get her take on the topics of the day.

While she wasn't actually in the studio, Kelly made her debut via video link just hours, later speaking to her new co-stars from a gym as Christine Lampard, Linda Robson, Nadia Sawalha and Brenda Edwards shared their delight at getting to work with her. On the immediate subject of joining the panel, Kelly, recently seen on screen ion her own documentary Being Me and as a team captain on BBC's All Star Games, said: "I am so excited! I don’t think I’ve had this much of an adrenaline rush for so long"

She added: "I feel like after doing my documentary, I feel I can talk and speak about subjects I never, ever talked about for fear. I am so excited to be with you ladies, you can’t imagine!”

Kelly then gave her the Loose Women panel some cause for concern, when she remarked: "Also ladies, be careful though, I’m going to be a whirlwind on the show. I’m teaching you a TikTok that I’m learning at the moment because I don’t do ageing ladies, I’m refusing to get old. I’m teaching you to get moving, get active, so be ready, I’m teaching you a TikTok.

She added: “I can’t wait to do so many more things with all of you. You inspire me. Everyone’s got a story, we’ve all got a life history and hopefully we can explore that soon.”
