Denise Welch has spoken out to defend Meghan Markle over anger that she won't be attend King Charles III's upcoming Coronation.
There is now less than a month to go until King Charles III is at the centre of the historic event, eight months on from the sad death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II. There has been a lot of speculation as to whether Meghan and husband Prince Harry will be part of the festivities and on Wednesday it was confirmed that, while Harry will be jetting in from America to attend, Meghan won't be joining him.
Announcing Harry's attendance and Meghan's no show, a statement from the couple read: "The Duke of Sussex will attend the Coronation service at Westminster Abbey on May 6th. The Duchess of Sussex will remain in California with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet."

News of Harry's decision to come home for the Coronation, amid the much publicised family rift and Meghan not attending, on the same day son Archie turns four, quickly became a big talking point online, with cr4itics hitting out at Meghan's decision. Taking aim at her for apparently 'bottling it,' GB News host Dan Wooton took to Twitter to blast: "So Meghan bottles it, leaving Prince Harry to attend the Coronation alone in order to avoid boos from angry Brits in the crowd. But how sad to deny the king the chance to see his two grandchildren who will remain in California."
Former Coronation Street star Denise has been a staunch supporter of both Meghan and Harry, on the Loose Women panel and on her social; media accounts and, quick to jump to Meghan's defence in this instance, Denise replied to Dan to write; "Why on earth would she want to come here with a press that abuses her EVERY SINGLE DAY???? And she doesn’t get booed. The crowds love her!!! And those who don’t??? If only they knew eh Dan"
Backing Denise's opinion, one of her followers was quick to reply; "If I could like this 100 times I would. Finally someone saying it how it is!," with a second commenting: "I don’t blame her for not wanting to go to England for the coronation, if she went they’d be saying she’s there to steal the limelight and a lot worse, can’t please everyone."
A third tweeted: "I think she should take care of herself and her kids, far, far away from the UK...if it's so toxic, don't put yourself in that situation."
