Loose Women's Brenda Edwards shares what 'keeps her going' after son's tragic death

Brenda Edwards has revealed what keeps her going after her son's death.

The Loose Women panellist appeared on today's edition of Lorraine to talk about her return to the stage. The former X Factor star is appearing as Mama Morton in the hit UK musical adaptation of Chicago.

It is the first time Brenda has appeared on the stage since her son Jamal's sudden death in February. The music entrepreneur died aged 31 from cardiac arrhythmia caused by taking recreational drugs.

Lorraine Kelly praised Brenda for returning to the musical theatre as t is what Jamal "would have wanted." Brenda said keeping busy is helping her deal with grief.

She added: "For me it's important for my mind to keep busy because if you're left with the silence then you're left with lots of different thoughts. I've always been someone to keep busy and I've always been some who loved singing. When I'm entertaining somebody else, I'm making them happy and that makes me happy."

Brenda has also returned to Loose Women and she lauded her panelists for supporting her during a difficult time. She said: "I missed it so much. I love all the different personalities, but they've individually sent me messages, sent me flowers, sent me food. It was really nice and I appreciated that support."

Jamal was best known as the founder of production company, SBTV, which helped launched the careers of artists including Ed Sheeran, Jessie J and Dave. Brenda recently met Prince Charles at the Commonwealth meeting, who praised her son's legacy.

The 53-year-old said: "He told me 'you're son was amazing and done so much for the Prince's Trust over the decades" It made me really proud to hear that and how many young people Jamal helped. It keeps me going".

Brenda admitted she still struggles to deal with the grief, but is taking it in one step at time. She added: "Everyday I put one foot in front of the other. There are triggers, but I just don't know what they are. You've got to allow yourself to be able to grieve and to cry when I want to cry. And then I pick myself up and say 'let's get on with it'."
