Loose Women panel accused of 'NHS bashing' as viewers say who's to blame

Some Loose Women viewers were unhappy after they claimed the ITV show's panel were "bashing" the NHS.

The panel spoke at length regarding the National Health Service with several coming forward to share stories of their own personal, negative experience. They collectively agreed they weren't pleased with patients potentially being fined for missing their appointments under the assumption it typically couldn't be helped.

Frankie Bridge said she was refused a blood treatment because her appointment was scheduled on a day the service wasn't offered which meant she needed to make another.

She used the anecdote to add weight to the claim patients are being pulled in different directions by the NHS and that it will ultimately affect an individual's work and potential childcare needs.

A new law which would protect the rights of women experiencing menopause, which was rejected by the government due to fears it would discriminate against men, was also mentioned but the topic ushered in a wave of exasperated sighs from the panel and audience.

The overall atmosphere in the studio didn't go down well with some viewers, who said they were "angry" at the "NHS bashing" on today's show. One viewer said: "Very angry with the NHS bashing on @loosewomen

"@ITV Let's not blame the NHS and health workers for lack of appointments or convenience. We are overstretched and overworked and fingers should be pointed at the government not telling the NHS to "come to us"

Another added: "They haven’t got the staff to give the services that you over-privileged women are expecting, fgs." A third said: "Oh JSP! [Janet Street-Porter] Always has a BUT, after a long drawn out statement pretending to support something."

A final viewer added: "It’s well known that men are terrible with going to the doctors if there’s a problem so I don’t get why they’re making out it’s a bigger problem for women."

The panel acknowledged more needs to be done to help the NHS given its current problems.
