Loose Women viewers were not impressed on Thursday as the panel spoke about the cost of living crisis and how people manage their money.
Kaye Adams led the latest instalment of the ITV show and was joined by Carol McGiffin, Nadia Sawalha and Gloria Hunniford as they discussed some of the latest headlines.
Beginning the chat, Kaye mentioned that "only four in 10 young people had some form of financial education at school" and asked the panel if they children should have money lessons at school.
Gloria commented: "It's interesting actually, because of course, I know the world has changed massively but sometimes when a topic like this comes up, which I bet for all of our lovely audience today is a big problem... unless you're a multi, multi millionaire, we're in difficulty and we're all looking at the pennies and for ways to save.
"But when I was growing up back in the day, we were taught to save. So even at school level, we were taught the value of saving. That attitude in a way has stayed with me all my life, I try never to go into the red, I never used to go out without money in my bag, I would never understand why people would say, 'well I haven't got any money with me'."
Kaye responded: "This problem that we are facing is not the making of young people, we've created this world where we want people to spend, spend, spend."
Gloria fired back: "But we are a nation now that thinks we can have everything, expensive holidays, designer shoes..."
Carol chimed in and said: "People expect to have everything they want, people do tend to live beyond their means..." as Nadia argued: "There is a gap in our education."
Gloria then continued: "We all have to cut our cloth accordingly at the moment because the facts are there, everything is more expensive and there are ways that you can shave off things to help pay your energy bill or whatever it is," but Nadia was not having it and butted in: "But people are already on their knees."
Many viewers tuning in at home were not happy with some of the comments made, especially Gloria's.
Taking to Twitter, one person said: "#LooseWomen People money talking about finances and struggles. They have no clue!! Hypocrisy!!"
A second tweeted: "Oh yeah Gloria, you know exactly how hard it is for someone on the NMW. Some people have cutback so far they’re not eating anymore #LooseWomen."
A third person posted: "Turn on TV and seeing Gloria criticising young people. No clue how the world has changed. Turning off this rubbish #LooseWomen."
Someone else fumed: "Four well paid presenters patronising us about saving money #loosewomen f**k off."
And another viewer added: "#LooseWomen f**k right off, MOST people are not entitled. MOST FOLK know they have to work to LIVE let alone to have nice things."
Loose Women airs weekdays at 12:30pm at ITV and ITV Hub.
