Looking for a new signature scent? These are The White Company's best-selling home fragrances

Three of the components of The White Company Home Fragrances: Primrose Hill, Seychelles and Santa fe.

The White Company's collection of divine home fragrances offers a winning solution to beautifully scent-scape every room of the house. Their prestigious botanical pillar candles have been named some of the best-scented candles. The reed diffusers and intoxicating room sprays cover all olfactory bases.

"People don't often know this, because The White Company doesn't publicly name their perfumers, but they collaborate with some of the world's top fragrance houses and noses," says Laura Honey, our woman&home e-commerce editor, who used to be in-house at The White Company, so she has the inside scoop. "Anyone can smell a fine fragrance, even if they don't realise it. Why else do you think The White Company's Seychelles Candle is so popular?"

So, if you're looking for a new signature home scent but don't know which one to buy, here's our insider information on The White Company's home fragrance collection.

The White Company's Best Selling Home Scents

You really can’t go wrong with any of The White Company’s home fragrances. The Signature candles are timeless: effortlessly giftable and universally pleasing. For something a little more striking, the botanical candles offer a luxurious step up, delivering true wow factor and a beautiful moment of unwrapping. Meanwhile, the room sprays and diffusers are ideal for lower-maintenance scent-scaping, particularly in homes with children or pets, where flame-free options bring both ease and elegance.

1. Primrose Hill

This fresh new scent is a delicate blend of Jasmine, Neroli and Pink Pepper – perfect notes for an uplifting spring aroma. The scent is floral without feeling too perfumed; it smells like fresh cut flowers, ideal to instantly invigorate any room.

The team at The White Company describe this scent as "A burst of florals from the florist on the corner, fresh cut stems and overflowing spring blooms in the early morning air. Light and gently sweet, there’s jasmine mingling with the citrus brightness of white neroli blossom, while a dash of pink pepper brings vibrancy and radiant warmth."

2. Santa Fe

Santa Fe is the ideal spring/summer scent for those who prefer more earthy aromas. Instead of characteristically more festive woods, this scent feels lighter thanks to notes of cypress wood combined with suede and rosewood to produce a soft and woody aroma. It's full-bodied, but with a delicacy you don't get with wintery woody scents.

"Velvety suede leads this scent, with musky undertones of soft leather," say the experts at The White Company. "Rosewood adds aromatic softness and delicate floral warmth, while green cypress brings balance and depth to the woodiness."

3. Tonka

Brand new, at the end of last year, Tonka was already a best-seller. Tonka beans are the heroes of the collection, offering deliciously comforting warmth, paired with juicy cassis, some woody spices and earthy tobacco.

"It takes a lot of development for The White Company to add to their home fragrance collection," shares Laura, "so Tonka is a really special and exciting addition this year. Whilst some vanillas can be quite sweet and light, Tonka is woody and rich, giving much more throw and power to a classic fragrance. I love it."

4. Seychelles

The White Company has always been very deliberate with its home scents. Each one is distinct, designed to suit a particular person, mood, or room. It's one of the founder, Chrissie Rucker's, passion projects. She's always looking for the best ways to make a home feel cosy, crafting scents that transport the senses to faraway climes. There's a scent to suit all moods.

For those looking for a lighter home fragrance and an echo of sunnier climates, Seychelles is just the thing. Seychelles is an all-year-round best seller. It's most people's favourite candle, and it's actually also the one that they diffuse outside of all The White Company's shops to entice you in.

Speaking about the Seychelles collection, Chrissie says: "It's just the most magical scent when we feel in need of a little escape or me-time. With evocative bergamot, bright orange, and fresh coconut, plus a hint of jasmine, warming amber, and buttery vanilla, it instantly brings home the warmth of an Indian Ocean breeze."

Like dopamine decor, the power of summer scent can go a long way to make you feel a sense of joy and escapism. I particularly love the look of the shells in the botanical candle, but I'll take Seychelles in whatever form it's available. Mini break anyone?

5. Lime and Bay

This fresh and zesty fragrance is a classic spin on citrus. "Everyone calls it 'sunshine in a bottle', says Laura, "because you have the sharp lime with warmer, sweeter mandarin and grapefruit. These are topped off with lush florals, including jasmine and bay leaf. It's a winning combination that has secured itself a spot as another one of the brand's best sellers.

If you're thinking about where to place it in your home, we recommend putting any of the Lime and Bay collection in your kitchen and living spaces to keep your home feeling fresh and energised.

6. Sea Salt

I am a firm believer that there is nothing quite like sea air for the soul. A walk around coastal cliffs can put your mind right, no matter what, which is why Sea Salt remains one of my favourites from The White Company's collection.

It's inspired by seaside strolls, crafted to be invigorating, and smells as fresh and airy as you imagine it possibly could. The notes of sea salt, samfire, and driftwood are as windswept and packed with ocean air as a good break away.

7. Flowers

Flowers have been a classic gift since the beginning of time. The White Company perfectly bottles up the delicate notes of jasmine, rose, and peony, crafting a fragrance that is feminine and subtle.

"It works in all rooms of the house," says Laura, "and the Flowers collection is my go-to for people when they're not sure what kind of fragrance their loved one likes. Everyone enjoys the smell of freshly cut flowers, especially when it's as well-developed and nuanced as with these."

8. Calm

You absolutely can't go wrong with anything from The White Company's Calm collection. It's designed to transport you to a relaxing spa break away, where all you have to think about is your next massage. Lavender, eucalyptus, and mint. What more could you ask for?

9. Winter

Perfect for the named season, Winter is a staple of The White Company's home fragrance collection. The blend of warming cinnamon, aromatic clove, and juicy mandarin is the very essence of the festive season, packed into The White Company's elegant diffusers and candles.

I religiously buy one of the botanical candles every Christmas, and I know I'm not alone. Chrissie formulated this over 21 years and loves to have it in the office and around her home at this time of year.

10. Fir tree

The White Company's Fir Tree is hugely popular during the winter, thanks to its festive feel. The fragrance marries the woodiness of cedar with green pine and crisp eucalyptus. It smells like stepping into a snowy forest.

11. Fireside Home Scents

Fireside was launched two Autumns ago as a limited edition scent and was so loved that it's now a permanent fragrance within The White Company collection – the 3rd best-selling fragrance nonetheless.

Fireside feels like the ultimate choice to make a home feel cosy, boasting wonderful woody and smoky notes to create the atmosphere of being sat beside an open fire.

“The next best thing to a crackling log fire in a boutique hotel!" is how Chrissie describes this much-loved home scent.

"Heavenly Fireside returns for Autumn with its incredible combination of soft, smoked wood and birch blended with rich, warming patchouli, clove-leaf, and amber. A must for cosy, relaxing weekend moments.”

These are merely the tip of the iceberg, because The White Company offers over 25 magnificent home fragrances, so these are solely the best-selling scents to help determine what you might want to try if you are new to The White Company home fragrance collection.

A personal favourite of mine is the new Grapefruit & Mandarin, which was added to the collection a couple of summers ago - I can highly recommend it if you like a fresh yet sweet fragrance. But having tried pretty much all the scents over the years as Lifestyle editor, I can confirm they are all delicious.

When it comes to buying the perfect gift for a special someone, you can't go wrong with a candle or diffuser from The White Company. Their classy candles and luxurious diffusers and room sprays are crafted from high quality ingredients, culminating in a gift that says "I really actually thought about this one" as opposed to a last minute bar of chocolate or bottle of wine. Although, if my family are reading, I'll take all three.
