You never know what players a rising star looked up to on his way to good ole State U. Unless, that is, those players give you an idea in interviews or other forms of revelations.
Take incoming freshman Ohio State quarterback Devin Brown for instance. He’s from out West, so maybe we shouldn’t be surprised if he looked up to one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time that did his best work out west. A guy that came out of Standford and ended up doing some pretty special things as a Denver Bronco.
We are of course talking about NFL Hall of Famer John Elway.
Brown took to his social media this past week to recreate a picture of Elway slinging the ball around in some throwback threads. Oh boy, those shorts.
Now I know why Elway was such a savage! Arm felt instantly stronger in the shorts. #ElwayCross @johnelway pic.twitter.com/PuY8sEdMxQ

Now, to be fair, Brown didn’t say anything about idolizing Elway in the photo, but you have to believe only a superfan would find this photo and go on a Lord of the Rings journey to find a pair of shorts that would make recreating such a scene attainable.
Well done Mr. Brown.
