Look: Now Bud Light Can Be Found Free of Charge

Anheuser-Busch (BUD) has been leading U.S. beer sales for years, with Bud Light the most popular of them all.

But lately, the company has been struggling to find a way to deal with the public outcry and boycott over a Bud Light advertising campaign it ran with transgender personality Dylan Mulvaney.

Some stores are finding it difficult to sell their stock of Bud Light amid the uproar.

In fact, one photo surfaced of cases of the beer being offered, essentially, for free.

The photo, in a tweet from the Daily Mail, shows a case of Bud Light marked for sale at $19.98, but with a rebate coupon for $20 back.

The photo, at an unidentified location, is accompanied by a screenshot of a tweet from @stclairashley and a photo of Mulvaney.

"The Bud Light marketing team must still be all women if they think a coupon will get a man's attention," quipped St. Clair in the tweet.

"Bud Light had been a brand of fratty, kind of out of touch humor and it was really important that we had another approach," Alissa Heinerscheid, Bud Light's former VP of marketing, said before taking a leave of absence following the clamor against the campaign.

"I had a really clear job to do when I took over Bud Light and it was this brand is in decline, it has been in decline for a really long time," she had said. "And if we don't attract young drinkers to come and drink this brand there will be no future for Bud Light. So I had this super clear mandate. We have to evolve and elevate this really iconic brand."

Sales of the beer brand fell for the fifth successive week, down nearly 24 per cent in the week ending May 6, according to the Daily Mail
