A city scheme that allowed people to buy a home for just £1 has proved to be a spectacular success. The project was launched in 2015 in Liverpool in an effort to transform several dilapidated properties.
People could buy the house for a pound before using their own money and resources to bring it back to life as part of an agreement with the local council. Some 2,500 applications were received for just 106 houses in the Webster Triangle neighbourhood.
