'Look at his face!' - Fans say the same thing about Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi pre-match meeting

Fans watching Paris Saint-Germain take on a Saudi Pro-League Riyadh XI all-star team on Thursday have claimed Cristiano Ronaldo’s meeting with Lionel Messi is telling.

The debate over which player is the greatest of all time has rattled on for most of their careers but some believe Messi won that argument once and for all last month when Argentina lifted the World Cup in Qatar.

The tournament was expected to be the last hurrah on the world stage for both the PSG great and former United star, with Ronaldo’s campaign ending in more anti-climatic fashion when Portugal unexpectedly bowed out to Morocco in the quarter-finals, leaving the superstar in tears.

He has been busy in the weeks since, penning a lucrative deal with Saudi Arabia outfit Al-Nassr after his contract with United was mutually terminated during the World Cup in November following his infamous explosive interview with Piers Morgan.

In that sit-down he spoke of his admiration of Messi as a player and person, calling him “magic”. The duo met for the first time since that conversation on Thursday, meeting on the football pitch once again at the King Fahd International Stadium.

They exchanged a quick message of good luck just before kick-off, which got fans online talking. Some claimed Ronaldo gave a resigned look when he greeted Messi, who scored three minutes into the contest before the Portugal hero slammed home a penalty eight minutes later.
