The updates continue to become more discouraging regarding Bulls guard Lonzo Ball’s knee injury.
The Bulls announced last week that Ball would undergo an arthroscopic debridement on his left knee on Sept. 28 to attempt to find a solution to the continued discomfort and pain.
On Tuesday, Ball spoke to the media, giving an update on what led to the second surgery, including still not being able to ‘run or jump.’
“I literally can’t. I really can’t run or jump,” Lonzo said. “There’s a range from 30-60 degrees where my knee is bent where I have no force and can’t catch myself so until I can do those things, I can’t play.”
Lonzo said he felt discomfort through all of the workouts while attempting to ramp up his rehab last season. He said the pain isn’t just related to basketball activities, but has affected his day-to-day life.
“It’s everyday. Even going up stairs, it’s still painful,” Ball said. “Like I said, it’s definitely something I’ve never dealt with. Even the doctors are a little surprised by it a little but we’re all working together to figure this thing out.”
Lonzo said he assumes the rehab following Wednesday’s surgery will be similar to what he went through previously. The procedure will be similar to a scope to see what the issue is and the doctors will proceed following their findings.
“For me, this will be my third surgery so this time around, I don’t really want to rush anything. I think like last time, I wanted to get back to the playoffs…this time I think we just need to take it however slow we need to take it and comeback 100%.”
