Limestone University announced Thursday that longtime NFL wide receiver and former Carolina Panthers assistant coach Jerricho Cotchery will be the program’s new football coach.
“We are extremely excited to have Jerricho as our new head football coach,” Limestone vice president for intercollegiate athletics Hailey Martin said in a press release. “He is so well liked and respected by our student-athletes and coaches.”
Cotchery, 41, played wide receiver for the New York Jets, Pittsburgh Steelers and Panthers during his NFL playing days that spanned from 2004 to ‘15. After retiring as a player, he joined the Panthers coaching staff as an assistant wide receivers coach in 2017 but was not retained when Matt Rhule became head coach in 2020.
He eventually joined Limestone as an assistant in 2022 and now finds himself as the head of the NCAA Division II program. The Saints finished this past season 8–4 and posted an 8–1 record in South Atlantic Conference play.
