Commonwealth Games silver medallist Murali Sreeshankar booked his berth for the World Championships in Budapest in style when he leaped to a massive 8.41 meters in the qualifying round of men’s long jump at the National Inter-State Senior Athletics Championships in Bhubaneswar which saw max temperatures climb to 39 degree celsius on Sunday.
The Kerala jumper, who recently climbed the podium at the Diamond League meet in Paris, was in for a big surprise when his leap came down just a centimetre below the national mark of 8.42m set by Jeswin Aldrin in March. The qualifying mark for Worlds is 8.25m.
