'Long and Complex' Mystery Takes Shocking Turn as Mum's Remains Found After London Wildfire 7 Years Later

£20k reward was offered in search for missing Southampton mum Joanne Sheen (Credit: Screenshoot from Crimestoppers)

Human remains uncovered in woodland after a wildfire in south-west London have been formally identified as those of missing mother-of-three Joanne Sheen, nearly seven years after she disappeared, Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary has confirmed.

A 56-year-old man from Southampton has been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder and remains in custody, in what detectives have described as a significant development in a long and complex investigation. Sheen, then 44, disappeared in December 2019 after travelling from Fareham to Southampton with a friend.
