A new memorial dedicated to victims of the transatlantic slave trade would be a “worthy cause” but the £1.1 million cost would be an “unwise” use of taxpayer money, Londoners have said.
Earlier this month the Local Democracy Reporting Service (LDRS) revealed that the contract for a seven-metre tall sculpture in West India Quay, east London has been handed to a Bristol-based firm by the Greater London Authority (GLA).
