Trains are now operating a good service from Waterloo after a day of disruption due to signalling problems.
The signalling issues caused a day of disruption on Thursday, with half of all platforms closed.
A “major power failure” in the signalling equipment saw passengers being advised not to travel. Many busy commuter services run to and from Waterloo.
By Friday, the problem had been resolved.
South Western Railway informed commuters that a considerably limited service would operate to and from London Waterloo due to a serious signalling issue that had arisen on Wednesday night.
The train operator said on Thursday read: “We’re advising customers not to attempt travel to or from London Waterloo this morning as a result.
“We’re sorry for the disruption this morning. Engineers are working to restore signalling; however, we expect disruption to last for most of the day.”
Trains from Waterloo to Alton, Guildford, and Weymouth were among the services that experienced delays.
Surrey, Hampshire, Wiltshire, and Dorset trains from the entire network were all cancelled. Many passengers also faced train cancellations for the rest of the day.
The SWR website now states there is a “good service” across most of the network.

However, a number of engineering works are planned on SWR on April 15 and 16 impacting Waterloo and other stations.
The lines in the Staines area will be closed all weekend.
Services from London Waterloo to Reading services will be revised and will be diverted between Clapham Junction and Virginia Water, calling additionally at Surbiton, Weybridge, Addlestone and Chertsey on Saturday.
On Sunday, an hourly service will be diverted after Twickenham and will terminate at Hounslow, with other trains diverted between Clapham Junction and Virginia Water.
Other lines in the Weybridge and Basingstoke areas will be closed Sunday for maintenance work.
