London Underground drivers confirm strike dates for next week

  • London Underground drivers who are members of the RMT union are scheduled to strike for 24 hours on two separate days next week.
  • The industrial action will begin from midday on Tuesday 21 April and again on Thursday 23 April.
  • The RMT union accuses Transport for London (TfL) of attempting to impose a new four-day working week, while TfL says the changes would be voluntary with no reduction in contractual hours.
  • TfL's chief operating officer, Claire Mann, said that the proposals aim to offer train operators an additional day off, improve reliability, and align London Underground with other train operating companies.
  • Passengers are advised to check services before travelling, with TfL warning that disruption will extend into the afternoons and evenings after strikes finish.
