London travel news LIVE: Paddington delays causing issues for Heathrow travellers

A broken rail between London Paddington and Heathrow Terminals is causing severe delays.

Major disruption is expected due to the number of cancellations to and from Heathrow Airport and the reduced GWR shuttle services to and from London Paddington.

There are also issues for the Heathrow Express and on the Elizabeth Line in the same area.

Delays are expected to continue until the end of the day.

The Piccadilly Line has been partially suspended all day due to a “significant” amount of leaves falling on the track.

Severe delays on London Overground

There are severe delays on the London Overground between Stratford and Richmond / Clapham Junction.

TfL says this is due to a person being taken ill on a train.

Piccadilly Line remains part-suspended but Elizabeth improves

The Piccadilly Line remains part-suspended between Rayners Lane and Uxbridge because of “significant” leaf fall on the tracks.

However, the Elizabeth Line has slightly improved, with TfL now reporting only “minor” delays between Heathrow and Paddington.

Major disruption at Paddington to last all day

A broken rail between London Paddington and Slough / Heathrow Terminals means that a reduced service is running on some lines at reduced speeds.

Major disruption is expected due to the number of cancellations to and from Heathrow Airport and the reduced GWR shuttle service.

Also affected is the Elizabeth Line, with passengers being warned of severe delays.

It means Elizabeth Line services are unable to run to and from Heathrow Terminal 5.

A reduced service is able to run to and from Heathrow Terminal 4.

Severe delays continue on Elizabeth and Hammersmith and City Lines

Severe delays are continuing on the Elizabeth and Hammersmith and City Lines.

TfL said the delays on the Hammersmith and City were due to an earlier points failure at Aldgate East.

Meanwhile, the Elizabeth Line has severe delays between Heathrow and Paddington while engineers try and fix a track fault at Acton Main Line.

In addition, the Piccadilly Line has no service between Rayners Lane and Uxbridge in west London - because there are too many leaves on the tracks.

North Circular blocked due to crash

The North Circular has been blocked and there are severe delays following a crash near Tottenham.

The crash happened westbound at Hall Lane (Cooks Ferry Interchange). Congestion has built up past Walthamstow to Waterworks Corner.

Tube delays improving

In the past half hour delays have eased on several Tube lines.

There are no longer severe delays on the District Line following a points failure at Aldgate East - but some issues remain.

Trains are also now able to run again on the Hammersmith & City line after the points failure brought services to a standstill.

There is now a good service on the Metropolitan line.

Metropolitan Line now running but with severe delays

The earlier Metropolitan Line suspension has now been lifted, but the line is still hit with severe delays following the earlier points failure at Aldgate East.

The Hammersmith & City Line remains totally suspdended because of the points failure, while the Piccadilly Line is part-closed because of “significant” leaf fall.

District Line no longer suspended

The District Line is no longer suspended but severe delays persist due to the earlier points failure at Aldgate East, says TfL.

Hammersmith & City Line totally suspended as several lines affected by points failure

There is no service on the Hammersmith and City Line due to a points failure at Aldgate East which TfL says it is currently fixing.

The points failure has also suspended the Metropolitan line between Baker Street and Aldgate, and the District Line between Tower Hill and Barking.

It is also causing severe delays across the rest of the Metropolitan Line and on the Circle Line.

Piccadilly Line remains suspended due to leaf fall

There is still no service on the Piccadilly Line between Rayners Lane and Uxbridge due to “poor rail conditions caused by significant leaf fall”, says TfL.

There are also still severe delays on the Elizabeth Line between Paddington and Reading /Heathrow due to a track fault, and on the Metropolitan Line between Baker Street and Aldgate due to an earlier signal failure at Neasden.

Elizabeth Line no longer suspended but severe delays continue

The Elizabeth Line is now running again - after it was part-suspended earlier due to staffing issues.

There are still severe delays on the line between Paddington and Reading while TfL fixes a track fault at Acton Main Line, which is expected to cause disruption all day.

Overground hit with severe delays

The Overground has now also been hit with severe delays.

TfL’s website says there are “severe delays between Surrey Quays and Clapham Junction due to an earlier faulty train at Peckham Rye”.

Elizabeth and Piccadilly lines both part-suspended

The Elizabeth and Piccadilly lines are now both part-suspended.

On the Elizabeth Line there is no service between Hayes & Harlington and Heathrow Airport due to unavailability of signalling staff. There are also severe delays between Paddington and Reading while TfL fixes a track fault at Acton Main Line. The latter is expected to cause disruption all day, says National Rail.

On the Piccadilly Line, there is still no service between Rayners Lane and Uxbridge due to “poor rail conditions caused by significant leaf fall”.

Severe delays on Elizabeth Line

There are now severe delays on the Elizabeth Line between Paddington and Reading / Heathrow Airport due to a track fault at Acton Main Line.

National Rail has warned the broken track is expected to cause disruption to trains running between Paddington and Heathrow until the end of the day. It’s also affecting Great Western Rail and Heathrow Express services.

Train services between London Paddington and Heathrow are expected to be disrupted until the end of the day, due to a broken rail.

The broken rail means fewer trains can run on some lines between London Paddington and Slough / Heathrow Terminals, says National Rail. It warns trains may be cancelled, delayed by up to 10 minutes or revised.

Services affected:

  • Elizabeth line services between Abbey Wood and Heathrow Terminal 4 / Maidenhead / Reading, and also between London Paddington / Shenfield and Heathrow Terminal 5
  • Great Western Railway services to / from London Paddington
  • Heathrow Express services between London Paddington and Heathrow Terminal 5
