London travel news LIVE: Circle and Hammersmith and City lines delays after engineering work overruns

Commuters face disruption on parts of the London Underground this morning as engineering work overran into service hours.

The Circle Line is currently experiencing minor delays following a late finish of planned engineering work, with services running but not to their usual schedule.

Similarly, the Hammersmith and City Line is also reporting minor delays for the same reason, affecting journeys across key sections of the network.

Faulty temporary traffic lights causing delays on A217 London Road

Temporary traffic lights are currently in place at the junction of A217 London Road and A239 Cricket Green to support borough works.

However, there are reports that the signal system is not operating correctly, leading to disruption in the area. Motorists are advised to proceed with caution and expect delays.

Delays on the A205

The ferry is currently operating a reduced one-boat service, leading to significant delays in both directions.

Southbound queues are stretching back towards Albert Road, while northbound traffic is tailing back to Church Street.

Passengers and motorists should expect delays.

Reduced service on the Woolwich Ferry

A reduced one-boat service is operating until mid-April due to essential vessel maintenance.

During this period, the final crossing from the South Terminal will depart at 9:40pm, with the last departure from the North Terminal at 10:00pm.

Signalling fault disrupts Great Northern and Thameslink services

Services on Great Northern routes between Peterborough, King’s Lynn, Ely, Cambridge, Letchworth Garden City and London King’s Cross, as well as between Welwyn Garden City and Moorgate, are affected.

Thameslink services between Peterborough and Three Bridges/Horsham, Cambridge and Brighton, and Welwyn Garden City and Sevenoaks are also impacted.

A signalling fault between Welwyn Garden City and Finsbury Park is causing disruption across the network, with trains subject to delays of up to 15 minutes, cancellations, or timetable alterations.

Disruption is expected to continue until around 11am,

Traffic is experiencing significant congestion, with long queues forming along Lower Road back towards Surrey Quays Gyratory and along Jamaica Road stretching towards Tower Bridge Road.

On the north side of the crossing, intermittent delays are also affecting the A13 Commercial Road, with traffic tailing back towards Whitechapel.

Delays on the A12

Delays of up to eight minutes are being reported on Ardleigh Green Road and Squirrels Heath Road approaching the A127.

Squirrels Heath Lane and Gubbins Lane are also experiencing heavy congestion in both directions, with traffic moving slowly through the area.

Further disruption is possible on the westbound A13 and southbound M11 during peak periods, as drivers divert onto alternative routes.

Delays near Silvertown Tunnel

Traffic is slow-moving on the approach to Lower Lea Crossing, with queues building and delays expected.

Lane restrictions are in place at Leamouth Road Roundabout, where it meets Aspen Way, due to ongoing utility works to install electrical cables.
