London travel news LIVE: Victoria line hit by 'track fault' as Metropolitan line part suspended

A track fault at Vauxhall is causing severe delays on the Victoria line.

The busy Tube service was suspended between Victoria and Brixton earlier today, according to TfL.

The Metropolitan Line is also part suspended due to a signal failure at Harrow-on-the-Hill.

On the Overground, the Windrush line is still partly suspended between New Cross and Surrey Quays following a waste centre fire in Deptford earlier this week.

Piccadilly line update

There are minor delays on the Piccadilly line between Northfields and Heathrow Terminals due to an earlier signal failure at Hatton Cross.

There are also minor delays between Acton Town and Rayners Lane due to an earlier signal failure at Harrow-on-the-Hill.

There is a good service on the rest of the line.

Metropolitan line part suspended

There is no service on the Metropolitan Line between Harrow-on-the-Hill and Amersham, Chesham, and Watford due to a signal failure at Harrow-on-the-Hill.

Tickets will be accepted on Chiltern Railways services.

There is a good service on the rest of the line.

Bakerloo line reopens

The Bakerloo line has now reopened between Queen's Park and Harrow & Wealdstone after the earlier track fault at Stonebridge Park - that section of the line is now running with severe delays.

Lioness line suspended

The track fault at Stonebridge Park has also resulted in the entire Lioness Line being suspended.

Bakerloo line part suspended

There is no service on the Bakerloo Line between Queen's Park and Harrow & Wealdstone due to a track fault at Stonebridge Park.

There are minor delays on the rest of the line.

London Buses are accepting tickets via any reasonable route.

c2c disruption following speed restrictions

Speed restrictions across the c2c network means that trains are running at a reduced speed.

Trains across the c2c network may be cancelled, delayed, or be unable to call at all scheduled stations while the speed restrictions are in place.

According to National Rail, the disruption is expected “until further notice”.

This is affecting all c2c routes to and from London Fenchurch Street.

Tube and Overground update

There are now severe delays on the Circle line due to train cancellations.

The Victoria line remains severely delayed, while there are minor delays on the Central line.

The DLR has resumed a good service on all routes.

The Windrush line is still part suspended following the fire at a waste facility in Deptford earlier this week.

Disruption between Milton Keynes Central and Watford Junction

An object caught in the overhead line equipment between Milton Keynes and Watford Junction means that the lines towards London Euston are blocked.

Services running between these stations may be delayed, cancelled or revised as a result.

This is affecting a number of Avanti West Coast and London Northwestern Railway services.

DLR update

The DLR is now open on all routes following the earlier faulty train.

There are still minor delays between Canary wharf and Stratford, and a good service on the rest of the line.

Circle line update

There are minor delays on the Circle line due to train cancellations.

Victoria line reopens

The Victoria line is now fully open again following the earlier track fault at Vauxhall.

The line is running with severe delays.

For alternate routes, tickets are being accepted on London Buses, Weaver line, Suffragette line, Great Northern, Thameslink, Greater Anglia, South Western Railway and Southeastern services via any reasonable route.

Central line delays

There are minor delays on the Central line following a late finish to engineering work at White City.

Windrush line part suspended

The Windrush line is still part suspended following the fire at a waste facility in Deptford earlier this week.

There is currently no service on the line between Surrey Quays and New Cross, and minor delays between Highbury & Islington and West Croydon.

DLR update

There is no service on the DLR between Langdon Park and Poplar due to a faulty train at Poplar.

There is a good service on all other routes.

Victoria line part suspended

A fault with the signalling system in the Stansted Airport area means trains running to and from from the station are facing major disruption, National Rail has said.

It said trains may be delayed by up to 40 minutes, revised or cancelled.

Major disruption is expected until 8.15pm.

The following routes are affected:

CrossCountry between Stansted Airport and Cambridge / Birmingham New Street

Greater Anglia between Stratford (London) and Bishops Stortford, and London Liverpool Street and Stansted Airport / Cambridge / Cambridge North / Ely

Stansted Express between London Liverpool Street and Stansted Airport.

Severe delays on the Mildmay line

Lines have reopened between Finsbury Park and Welwyn Garden City

Services will be subject to residual disruption, and passengers have been advised to allow at least 45 minutes extra to complete their journey.

As a result of alterations and cancellations, passengers will likely need to travel on a different train to normal, or change trains at an intermediate station to complete your journey.

You are strongly advised to check journey planners before you travel. If you're travelling now, you should check station screens and listen to announcements for the latest information.

Lines reopen between London King's Cross and Stevenage

The emergency services have now completed their work following an earlier incident where a person was hit by a train.

All lines between London King’s Cross and Stevenage have reopened.

However, as services recover, trains may still be delayed by up to 60 minutes, revised or cancelled.

Long distance and mainline South Western Railway services between Exeter St Davids and London Waterloo are currently disrupted.

Some services will be delayed while others may be cancelled or revised.

Passengers have been asked to use the following routes to avoid disruption:

• Basingstoke and Reading

• Exeter and London Paddington

• Weymouth and Westbury

• Westbury and Reading

• CrossCountry services between Bournemouth and Reading

South Western Railway are arranging various replacement buses between Woking and Weymouth.

The incident happened between Farnborough Main and Woking.

All lines between these stations have been closed while emergency services carry out their work.

Trains operating between these stations may be cancelled, delayed by up to 15 minutes or revised.

Services impacted after person hit by train

Services across Great Northern and Thameslink are expected to be subject to delays of at least 60 minutes and may be cancelled.

BTP confirm death on the tracks

British Transport Police (BTP) have confirmed that a person has died after being found on the tracks on the London Underground this morning.

A BTP spokesperson said: "Officers were called to the line near Sloane Square Underground station at 7.44am today (19 August) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

"Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.

"Enquiries are ongoing into the circumstances leading up to their death."

The incident has caused major disruption on the Tube network this morning.

The Circle line remains fully suspended, while the District and Hammersmith & City lines are part suspended.

Reduced service between Watford Junction and St Albans Abbey
