London Pride is almost upon us, as the streets of the capital gear up to play their part in the legendary celebrations.
The capital’s festivities are the biggest Pride event in the UK and this year they are extra special, as we celebrate 50 years since the historic march of 1972.
That was the year Pride first took place in UK, and so this year the event organisers are making sure to commemorate the history of the movement and how far it has come since then.
The event will also take into account the challenges faced by the LGBTQ+ community half a century on from those historic events.
The celebrations will also double as a protest - demanding the government bans conversion therapy, reform recognition and keep working to stamp out hate crime that continues to plague the UK.
When is London Pride?
London Pride will take place on July 2, meaning the festivities are just a few days away at the time of writing.
Partying is expected to spill across the capital as thousands descend on its streets for the celebrations.
London Pride parade route
The route will begin at the bottom of Park Lane, near Hyde Park Corner tube station and Wellington Arch.
From here it will head along Piccadilly, along the top of Green Park and the Ritz, before reaching Piccadilly Circus.
From here it will head south-east down Haymarket towards the river, taking a left towards Trafalgar Square.
Heading on south from the famous square, it will head onto the famous Whitehall, where the parade will come to an end.
