London Mayor aspirant calls Hyderabad a truly global city

Tarun Ghulati of Indian origin, who announced his candidature for the forthcoming London Mayor elections in 2024, believes the Free Trade Agreement between India and UK will unlock opportunities to ensure greater efficiency and innovation in production, increased economic development, and enhanced living standards thereby leading to overall economic growth.

Mr. Ghulati, who was in Hyderabad spoke to the media at Press Club Hyderabad and said he wished to see increased cohesiveness between countries whose diaspora live in London, by building people-to-people and business connections. “I will build a thriving London, do away with barriers to growth and ensure safety of all citizens,” he said.

Praising Hyderabad, he said the city was truly global, cosmopolitan and culturally rich, with a very robust startup ecosystem. During this visit he would meet the captains of industry across India, besides government ministers and officials. Earlier, he sought the divine blessings of Lord Balaji at Chilkur temple on the city outskirts.

Mr. Ghulati, who takes pride in his ‘Sanatan’ roots, said if he was elected, visible policing across all the boroughs and police stations will be restored where crime rates are high and affordable housing will be a key strategy. He said scrapping of Ultra-Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) and congestion charges on weekends and holidays will be his main poll planks.

Stating that he considers India his Janmabhoomi, Mr. Ghulati said he plans to visit all the nations whose diaspora call London their home. JA Chowdary, Chairperson and Convenor of the India Startup Festival and Karuna Gopal, BJP National In charge of Women Policies and Research were present.
