Some 50,000 runners will take to the streets of London for the world's most famous marathon on Sunday, by which time thousands more will have applied to take part next year.
Back in its usual April slot after the disruption caused by Covid-19, many will have undertaken stirring fundraising efforts for charity in order to take to the start line. But an easier way in is undoubtedly a ballot place, with an average of 350,000 people putting their names forward each year.
And expect demand to outstrip available places this time around too. At 9pm on Saturday, April 22, the link will become available via the TCS London Marathon website, although worth noting it's not a case of 'first come first served'.
