London International Motor Show to return in 2027 with electric focus

This year's Brussels Motor Show – with its focus on EVs – proved there's still plenty of life left in the traditional motor show format - (Steve Fowler)

The London International Motor Show will return next year, with the event set to take place at Excel from 26-28 February 2027.

The three-day event will see car makers, technology firms and mobility companies gather in the capital for what is being positioned as a major showcase of the automotive industry’s past, present and future. Organisers say the show will combine the traditional elements of a large-scale motor show with more modern, interactive features designed to engage a broader audience.

Visitors will be able to get up close to the latest production cars and concept models from major brands, while live demonstrations and test drive opportunities are also planned. The aim is to create an experience that goes beyond static displays, giving attendees the chance to explore new technology and emerging trends first hand.

A key theme of the 2027 show will be the industry’s continuing shift away from internal combustion engines towards electrified powertrains. Exhibitors are expected to showcase the newest hybrid, plug-in hybrid and battery-electric vehicles, alongside developments in vehicle software, connectivity and wider mobility services. It follows hot on the heels of this year’s Brussels Motor Show – with its focus on EVs – which proved there's still plenty of life left in the traditional motor show format.

That focus reflects the direction of travel for the global car industry, with many manufacturers accelerating their electrification plans ahead of tighter emissions regulations in the UK and across Europe. The London event is set to provide a platform for brands to present their latest electrified models to both consumers and business users in one of the world’s most high-profile cities.

The venue, Excel London, sits in the capital’s Docklands area and is located close to London City Airport, with direct transport links into central London. Its location is intended to make access straightforward for international exhibitors, media and visitors, while also drawing in audiences from across the UK.

The London International Motor Show will run alongside two other major automotive events at the same venue, including Motorsport Expo, described by organisers as the UK’s largest motorsport exhibition. The shared location of the events is expected to increase overall attendance and broaden the demographic reach, attracting enthusiasts, families, fleet buyers and industry professionals under one roof.

Further details, including confirmed exhibitors and ticket information, are due to be announced in the coming months as preparations for the 2027 event gather pace.
