London expected to swelter in 31C on Sunday as May heatwave set to break record

London is set to sizzle in temperatures as high as 31C on Sunday in what is likely to be a record-breaking bank holiday weekend heatwave.

The village of Frittenden, in Kent, hit 30.5C on Saturday, with forecasters saying temperatures would continue to rise, bringing forward the possibility that multiple records could be broken over the coming days.
