London council spends £19,000 ‘housing four cats in luxury pet hotel’

An east London council allegedly spent nearly £20,000 housing four cats in luxury accommodation after their owner became ill.

Under the Care Act, local authorities have a duty to care for pets when their owners are hospitalised and there are no friends or family who can take them.
