London 999 to be flooded with as many as 700 calls in first hour of the New Year

Ambulance crews in London are braced for their busiest night of the year with up to seven hundred 999 calls an hour.

Bosses at the London Ambulance Service (LAS) appealed to Londoners to treat emergency crews and call handlers with respect, especially on a night when many people will have been drinking during New Year Eve celebrations.
