It was reported that a car collided with a school crossing patrol officer.

The female driver of the car, a dark blue people carrier, then reportedly left the scene without giving any details.

The lollipop lady was taken to hospital to receive treatment for a broken foot.

A spokesperson for the force encouraged anyone with any information which may assist with their investigation to come forward.

They said: "Enquiries are ongoing to identify the driver and police are urgently encouraging those involved, or anyone who saw the incident, to come forward and assist the investigation.

"The driver or anyone with information or dashcam footage is asked to contact police via the ‘Tell Us Something’ page of our website or by calling 101 quoting log NP-20221013-0375."
