League of Legends’ ranked was briefly disabled in the OCE region following an issue that caused “erroneous placements” for the players at the start of the new season. The developer confirmed the shutdown was temporary and limited to OCE while a fix was deployed.
The League update was shared by Matt Leung-Harrison, known in the community as Riot Phroxzon, who outlined several season start changes on X. According to him, ranked was taken offline for approximately an hour after the team identified incorrect placements affecting some players, and they assured players that anyone adversely impacted by the issue would be compensated. Specific details on the form of compensation have not yet been announced.

Alongside the Ranked shutdown, the esports publisher also provided an update on upcoming changes to duo queue restrictions. They are planning to make Challenger duo queue more restrictive, potentially limiting it to Grandmaster and above. This change will not be active in the first patch of the season, as Riot traditionally allows unrestricted duo play at launch.
Lastly, the developer also addressed ongoing concerns around lane boundary definitions, particularly frustrations from players who leave the lane briefly to ward and are penalized with reduced quest progress. Role Quests are one of the many new changes this season, which are drastically changing how players play their early game and get rewarded for staying in their lane and completing small objectives to get benefits according to their roles.
While no immediate changes were announced, the developer acknowledged the issue and confirmed it is under active review, and there should be a fix soon, which should allow laners to breathe easy without getting a penalty on their Role Quests, while being out of the zone for warding or other reasons like roaming in the map for teamfighting.
