Dundee United are closing in on a loan move for Huddersfield Town’s Loick Ayina.
Record Sport understands the Terrors are in talks with the English Championship over a deal. The 19-year-old centre halif is a player the Terriers rate highly and want to get him out on-loan for first-team football. Huddersfield boss Mark Fotheringham is open to Ayina heading north of the border. The French/Congo defender would strengthen United’s backline options. The Tannadice club had enquired about Stephen Welsh earlier in the day but were told by Celtic he was going nowhere.
United are also looking to bring in a striker before the close of the window. Tony Watt is on the verge of joining St Mirren and Liam Fox needs cover for main man up top Steven Fletcher. Aberdeen striker Marley Watkins is an option although there are also several other targets south of the border that United are looking at as they look to do a deadline busting deal.
Fox is yet to bring in any new faces this window. He reunited with former Hearts midfielder Arnaud Djoum back in October. The Cameroon international was signed as a free agent, amnd Fox could do similar if he's unable to get bodies in from other clubs before midnight tonight.
