Logan Paul makes Wrestlemania promise as YouTube star shares behind the scenes clip

Logan Paul has promised to fly off the top rope in his blockbuster tag team match with The Miz at Wrestlemania.

This Saturday, the YouTuber will team up with the former WWE champion to take on the legendary Rey Mysterio and his son Dominik, at the AT&T Stadium in Texas. Whilst it will be Paul's first match on wrestling's biggest stage, he did appear on the PPV in Tampa Bay last year to watch Sami Zayn’s match with Kevin Owens.

'The Maverick' received a stone cold stunner from Owens afterwards, but clearly impressed on his foray into the wrestling business as he was later approached about featuring in a storyline for Mania 2022. Indeed, after being beaten by Rey Mysterio at the Elimination Chamber event, The Miz promised the WWE Universe he'd be bringing in a friend to even up the odds.

That friend ended up being Paul, who has made a series of appearances on WWE Raw these past few weeks to help promote his historic bout. And now the 26-year-old has pledged to fly through the air in front of an expected 80,000 sell out crowd.

Paul took to Twitter to post a clip of him climbing to the top turnbuckle, before delivering a frog splash in the style of the late, great, Eddie Guerrero. He captioned the footage with: “I’m going off the top rope at Wrestlemania on April 2 and no one can stop me @WWE.”

Paul is no stranger to a big occasion in the ring, although his experiences thus far relate to boxing and not sports entertainment. In February 2018, he boxed fellow influencer KSI to a draw in an exhibition bout, which ended in a draw.

The following year, the pair met in a professional match, with KSI taking the verdict via a split decision. In June 2021, he then went the distance with the legendary Floyd Mayweather in an eight-round exhibition, although afterwards many were left questioning whether 'The Money Man' deliberately prolonged the clash.

Regardless, Paul seems to have been impressing in WWE circles, partaking in training sessions with former star Hurricane Helms at the Performance Centre in Orlando. And the former cruiserweight champion says's he's been "super easy" to work with.

“Training Logan Paul has been one of the easiest celebrity trainings I've ever done," he told The Sun. “He's a natural athlete, he's got natural charisma, a natural personality. It's just a matter of feeding him a little bit of information and he processes it. It's been super easy.”

This year's Wrestlemania will again be split over two nights, with both women's world titles on the line on Saturday. Becky Lynch puts her Raw belt on the line against Bianca Belair, while Charlotte Flair defends her Smackdown crown against former UFC star Ronda Rousey.

Also on the opening night, the legendary Stone Cold Steve Austin will return to appear on the KO Show to confront Kevin Owens. The main event however, takes place on Sunday when Roman Reigns takes on Brock Lesnar.

Both the Universal [Reigns'] and WWE [Lesnar's] titles will be on the line in the culmination of a bitter feud. Lesnar, another former UFC icon, recently praised Paul and brother Jake for their boxing antics.
