Logan Paul and Arnold Schwarzenegger launch Slap Fighting Championship

Logan Paul and Arnold Schwarzenegger have joined forces to launch the Slap Fighting Championship that will take place early next month.

The YouTube star has been involved in fighting having launched a successful YouTube boxing career, which reached its pinnacle when he shared the ring with Floyd Mayweather last year.

New crazes have continued to emerge in the fighting world which include professional pillow-fighting and outlandish matchmaking in boxing.

Now Paul and Schwarzenegger have announced their unlikely partnership with promotion FanMio to stage the Slap Fighting Championship event.

The event will be staged by Polish slap-fighting promotion PunchDown as they continue to bring a new platform to a "fast-rising" sport.

Paul has previously worked with Fanmio who helped broadcast his successful exhibition with Mayweather which sold around one million pay-per-views.

Schwarzenegger is famous for his time in bodybuilding winning Mr Universe five times before launching a hugely successful career in acting.

The event will take place at the Arnold Sports Festival which was founded by the famous acting star back in 1989 with businessman Jim Lorimer.

At the time it was named the Arnold Classic and it has later been revamped with fans set to see the slapping contest on the main stage at the festival.

Schwarzenegger is delighted with the new venture and is excited to "showcase" the new sport in front of a loyal fanbase.

The Arnold Sports Festival is all about inspiring our fans to chase their dreams and find the sport that starts their fitness journey,” said Schwarzenegger.

"“I can’t wait to showcase the best slap fighters in the world on the main stage at our event and I’m so excited to introduce this wild sport to our fans with Logan.”

Paul is known from his life as a social media sensation which has culminated into a following of over 100 million across all platforms.

He currently runs podcast Impaulsive with his brother Jake currently launching a professional fighting career.

The 26-year-old is excited for his latest venture and believes slap-fighting should be "legitimised" in the sporting world.

“As someone who always seeks to be at the forefront of any new discovery, it is a thrill to see slap fighting get legitimized in the world of sport,” said Paul.

“It is an honour to present these combat athletes to a global audience alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger, Fanmio and PunchDown. Fans will not be disappointed!”

The event will be streamed on Paul's YouTube and Facebook live platforms and will take place on March 5.

Paul has been under increasing speculation that he could return to the boxing ring after accepting a social media challenge from Brazilian star Whindersson.

He previously claimed that he had hung up his gloves in a video with former two-time opponent KSI.

However he had also declined a rematch offer from Mayweather who is also planning to return to the ring.
