Lodge Lane street food venue announces its 'sad' closure after having 'an absolute ball'

A popular Lodge Lane street food venue confirmed it's closing its doors in a few days time - but it's not all bad news.

Fozia's Kashmiri Street Food has amassed a decent fanbase over its years in operation, thanks to its authentic Kashmiri menu, which includes halal curries, samosas, pakoras, street food burgers, khati rolls and more. The beloved venue took to social media to share the news of its impending closure.

This Sunday, September 4, Fozia's Kashmiri Street Food will close the doors to 46C Lodge Lane and, much to the delight of food lovers, will relocate to a larger site on Picton Road. The Wavertree street is a hotbed of independent restaurants, cafes, takeaways and shops.

Sharing the news on Twitter on August 25, the restaurant's owners penned: "We have some very sad news to announce and some very exciting news too! First the sad news! We are closing down Kashmiri Street Food on Lodge Lane in 10 days.

"Our last date of opening is 4th September 2022. We have made this decision after a recent increase in rent which makes the business not viable. Now the exciting news! We are opening our restaurant on Picton Road mid September, with a definitive date very soon.

"We have had an absolute ball on Lodge Lane, had many many highs and a few lows but it's been an amazing start up for our restaurant business which we could have only have achieved with the support from you guys, our loyal customers.

"It will be a very sad day when we close the door on our shipping container and [we] will miss the guys next door who make our day fun. But now we begin a new chapter in our food story, a very exciting time ahead.

"We are now working on our new menu including [our] favourite type of food - cakes! We will post up a menu hopefully by the beginning of September with our opening and closing times too. But for now we want to thank everyone who has helped us, including all of the staff [that] have worked with us, customers who have come regularly to buy full meals and even a samosa. But most of all we will miss the atmosphere in the shipping containers as it genuinely has been an experience, in a very nice way!!!"
