Lockerbie wheelchair racer Sean Frame named Scottish Athletics 4J Para Athlete of the Year

Lockerbie wheelchair racer Sean Frame has landed the Scottish Athletics 4J Para Athlete of the Year title.

The 25-year-old received the prestigious award at an event in Glasgow’s Hilton Hotel on Saturday night.

Sean, who won silver in the T53/54 marathon on his Commonwealth Games debut for Team Scotland in Birmingham 2022, took the honours from a shortlist which also included Samantha Kinghorn and Melanie Woods.

Thrilled Sean said: “I’m so proud to be Scottish Para Athlete of the Year because the competition was very strong – there were five of us at the Commonwealths and Samantha and Melanie, who were shortlisted, are as deserving as me.

“Winning silver in the marathon was a moment I will never forget and it made years or hard work and lots of miles out on the road all feel worthwhile.”

After receiving his medal in Birmingham in July, Sean said: “This means the world to me, all those years of training, the countless miles, going out in every sort of weather, it takes so much out of you physically and mentally, but it’s paid off.”
