The bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie in 1988 aimed to “inflict pain and horror that would be reported around the world”, a US court has been told.

A hearing in Washington DC heard that the trial of Abu Agila Masud over the deadliest terrorist attack in UK history is expected to last around two months, starting in mid-January, although a final date has yet to be confirmed.
