Locked in: Aussie UFC champ to face Russian superstar

Australian UFC champion Jack Della Maddalena has declared he will send Islam Makhachev tumbling back down to the lightweight division after their blockbuster showdown was confirmed for New York in November.

Della Maddalena became just the third Australian to win a UFC crown when he defeated Belal Muhammad in a welterweight title battle in Montreal in May.

That against-the-odds victory was all the more remarkable given it was Della Maddalena's first fight since suffering a career-threatening broken arm 14 months earlier.
