A video that is said to show the legendary Loch Ness monster has been described as the 'best footage captured for 20 years'.
A holidaying couple took the video on Monday while staying in a quaint cottage overlooking Urquhart Castle on the banks of Loch Ness.
They were stunned into picking up a camera when they believed they had spotted something in the water.
The alleged sighting of the infamous monster is said to have taken place at 6am, reports Edinburgh Live.
The footage purportedly shows a large creature going in and out of the water.
The sighting was logged on the Official Loch Ness Monster Sightings Register earlier this week and said to be the third this year.
The log read: "A couple on holiday for a week were staying in a cottage overlooking Urquhart Castle when they saw something in the water at 6.16am.
"They took a video which was later examined by a local photographic and video expert who said that what they captured was clearly animate, came out of the water before going back in again.
"And then out once more and was definitely larger than, for example, the bird life in the loch.
"The full video can be seen here and this is a still of what they saw."
The anonymous couple, who say they were amused by historic Nessie sightings, could not explain the remarkable footage.
This is the fourth sighting of the fabled monster in 2022 so far.
