Boris Johnson and his fellow Conservatives will be licking their wounds after his party lost major London authorities to Labour. The party also suffered a series of setbacks across England in this year's local elections.
Sir Keir Starmer's Labour Party further strengthened its grip on the capital overnight. The Labour leader had urged voters to use their ballot to make their feelings known over partygate.
The results saw Labour take Wandsworth and Westminster. Labour gained Southampton from the Conservatives and The Tories lost Worcester to no overall control in a bruising night.

The loss of Wandsworth is a significant blow due to its symbolic status in London. It turned blue back in 1978, a year before Margaret Thatcher's election as prime minister, reports BirminghamLive.
It was reputedly her favourite council and was noted for its low taxes. London Mayor Sadiq Khan has been celebrating Labour's historic win in Wandsworth.
London mayor Sadiq Khan tweeted a video of Labour campaigners and councillors celebrating in Wandsworth. Mr Khan can be heard saying: “Three words. Wandsworth, Labour, gains”, as Labour supporters around him cheer.
Mr Khan also tweeted: “A historic, joyous night for Labour as Wandsworth council goes red for the first time in 44 years.

After winning Westminster, Westminster’s Labour leader has thanked residents for “putting their faith” in the party after it took control of the area for the first time.
Westbourne councillor Adam Hug tweeted: “The residents of Westminster have put their faith in Labour to lead the council. It is an honour and a privilege.
"We will work every day to build a fairer Westminster.”
Barnet’s new Labour leader Barry Rawlings said: “We had a very good team, very good messaging, we went out and did the work, walked the streets and knocked the doors so a lot of it is a local success but I won’t lie the national situation makes a difference.”
