Local captures incredible images of Outlander filming in Scotland as work on Season 7 begins

We've only just learned that Outlander season seven has begun filming but it seems the cast and crew are already out and about in Scotland.

One fan who lives in Burntisland has shared images of them filming scenes in the harbour close to her home.

Jackie Lewis' home overlooks Burntisland Harbour in Fife and she was delighted to spot the sailing boat Phoenix being used as part of scenes for the hit show on one of her daily walks.

"I was also lucky to catch a glimpse of outlander stars Sam Heaughan and Caitriona Balfe," explained the calibration technician. "Both were lovely, Sam even took the time to speak to fans and sign autographs."

According to Jackie, the local residents are happy to see Burntisland chosen as a location for the show.

She added: "It is very exciting for filming to take place in our beautiful historic town, the whole town has been buzzing with the news filming was about to begin, possibly more so that Sam was in town, he is very handsome."

Other pictures showed Sam – sporting his glorious red wig - and fellow star Caitriona Balfe on set.

Perhaps most fascinatingly, Caitriona has also had a haircut with her hair much shorter than in season 6.

Some fans shared their signed autographs from Sam online, while others speculated if the boat means they could be returning to Scotland in the new season.

Though others hinted at a key plotline from the books involving Claire being rescued from a British boat.
