LUCKNOW: Urging urban local bodies to become financially 'atmanirbhar', chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday said that they need to come up with a concrete plan to increase their revenue.
During a meeting of Team 9, the CM said that every district has the potential to grow and a planned effort is required to see that happen. "He said that districts and urban local bodies should regularly assess their revenue and to increase their GDP, should work out a strategy," a government spokesperson said.
The CM also directed departments to prepare fresh policy documents to increase investments. He said that due to the changing industrial environment in the state, investors from across the world were coming to invest in UP and as per the needs of industries, a new industrial policy and a new electric vehicle policy should be prepared. He also said that the existing warehousing and logistics policy should also be improved as per requirements of the industry, in consultation with representatives.
Meanwhile, the CM said that all pending works related to the Bundelkhand Expressway should be completed within 10 days. It will be promoted as the 'Lifeline of Development'.
The CM further said that to avoid waterlogging in monsoon, all drains must be cleaned and de-silted. Projects under Amrut scheme should be reviewed and along with keeping cities clean, they should also be beautified. He said that crossings can be beautified in collaboration with residents, NGOs and public representatives.
The CM also asked the chief secretary to review all pending applications for setting up private universities in the state and make a presentation before him at the earliest. He said that such applications must not be delayed and a decision should be taken on them at the earliest.
